Based in the Peak District, Flip uses her local environment for inspiration, materials and subject matter.

Natural materials form an important element of Flip’s work. Ink, charcoal and watercolour are mixed with coffee, herbs, spices, vegetable dyes and salt, adding chalk pastels for contrast. Flip collects local flora which is used to create print effects and make marks in the work. Collage is often incorporated into her pieces.

Flip’s practice is based in the belief that everyone should enjoy art making and being in nature. The objective is not to achieve artistic perfection, but get a sense of the characteristics of the environment, the personalities of local wildlife and livestock - and the presence of the artist - capturing a moment in time.
